GENRE RESEARCH

Genre: Drama

Genre conventions- content: Drama exhibits real life situations with realistic characters and settings. The purpose of drama is that it tends to move the audience emotionally through a happy ending. Used to show the strengths and weaknesses of human nature

Genre conventions- production techniques: Pre production- idea, make a script, have a location, have equipment and people, sign any legal agreements. Production- film more than you need with different lights and angles and check sound to make sure everything works. Post production- look through footage, edit clips, make sure everything is consistent (video and sound)

Institutional conventions- How is genre marketed? Drama is marketed through promotion including pre roll video advertising, making interactive websites/social media

An example of a drama film is The Titanic. The titanic is a great love story that takes place on a boat. In the movie, the main character, Rose, breaks her class to be with a man of a lesser class who she loves. There is drama throughout the film due to the fact that Rose’s family doesn’t like Jack. There is also drama in the film when the ship starts to sink and everyone is trying to get off and push people off. The end scene is the most dramatic because it shows Jack dying and saving Rose’s life.

Another example of a drama film is The Godfather. The Godfather is a mob drama movie that is based on The Godfather novel. The film is focuses on Italian American crime family and shows the youngest son, Michael, joining the Mafia and becoming involved in violence.

THE BEGINNING..

Hi guys, welcome to my blog!
My name is Alexis Hamilton and I am a senior at Cypress Bay High School. I made this blog to document the process of my AICE Media film opening project. In this blog, I will record my group's production process and ideas for our film opening. In my opinion, I believe a film opening is a better choice for me due to my past and current experience using Adobe Premiere Pro. I learned to use Premiere Pro in my freshman year as a Television Production student and throughout the years I feel as if my knowledge has expanded immensely. Although this will be a long process, my group and I are excited to share our journey and every obstacle we come across. I hope you enjoy my blog and what's to come!!

CREATIVE CRITICAL REFLECTION
