MY OPINION ON COMMONLY JUDGED GROUPS

A group that I would like to represent within my project is the teenagers in todays society and how they are misrepresented. My goal by the end of this blog post is to prove that teenagers aren't as bad as they seem to be. Teenagers are often referred to as lazy, immature and assumed to be involved with negative things such as crime and drugs but is that really the case?
Teenagers are considered lazy due to the fact that they wake up late, meaning they are late to school. Just because a teenager is late to school doesn't necessarily mean that they are lazy. They are also considered immature for making jokes or laughing at jokes. Just because teenagers don't have the same mentality and joke around more than adults it doesn't necessarily mean that they are immature, they just aren't as developed as an average adult. Society also judges teenagers by appearance, they assume that if one dresses a certain way that they may be trashy or involved in drugs. People tend to judge when really there is nothing to prove that this is the case. Teenagers are not necessarily "hoodlums" involved in crime due to the way that they dress and act, everyone goes through their own things and not everyone is perfect.
I believe that this representation of teenagers isn't the case at all. Many teenagers go through certain things that affect their growth such as family or health issues. I believe that it is unfair to judge a teenager on the way that they dress, act or the time they get to school. There are many factors that go into making an individual who they are. The media only shows the negative side of what teenagers do, they show teenagers involved in crime, instead of showing positive things that they do such as helping out an elder and being a hero.
I believe that sometimes teenagers can be lazy and immature but I don't agree with assuming that teenagers are violent and involved in crime and drugs. Teenagers shouldn't be associated with crime just because there are some teenagers who make the wrong decision. There are some teenagers who are lazy and have no motivation to do anything but that could be due to who they are surrounded with, they may not be motivated by family or friends around them. No motivation could lead to failure in life due to the attitude that nothing needs to be done. Teenagers also may be immature due to the fact that they haven't grown as quick as others have. Everyone has an age in which they are immature about everything by making immature jokes and doing immature things. I agree that both being lazy and immature may be used to describe some teenagers but just because some may be like that, doesn't mean that all of them are like that. Teenagers as a group, shouldn't be judged due to certain individuals because everyone is different.

SOME MORE GENRE RESEARCH

1. Genre: Comedy

2. Genre conventions- content: Comedy could be divided into multiple genres including romantic, comedy of humors, comedy of manners, sentimental comedy and tragicomedy. Comedy films are designed to make the audience laugh through a humorous effect.

3. Genre conventions- production techniques: Comedy production techniques include snappy editing, sight gags, funny dialogue, zooms, long shots, reveal shots, comparison shots and perspective shots. The use of these different shots and angles help in making a film a comedy due to they way in which they are represented and shown.

4. Film sample: An example of a romantic comedy is A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare, the movie presents young people falling in and out go love. Throughout the film they show the lives of these young lovers and the drama that comes with young love. They present this as a romantic comedy by making it funny but still showing a love story.

5: Film sample: Another example of a comedy movie is Mean Girls. Mean Girls is a movie about a girl who moves to the United States from Africa. Throughout the movie they show the girl attending a normal high school after being homeschooled throughout her life. They show her process of trying to fit in with the popular kids, "The Plastics". Throughout there is jokes made making it a relatable movie for high school students, especially females.
